MAT Jumpstart Practitioner

Alyssa Woronecki

Alyssa Woronecki is a graduate of Humber College where she received Diplomas in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy Assistant (PTA/OTA) program and Fitness and Health Promotion. Humber College awarded Alyssa as the Recipient of the Mary E. Pollard Memorial Award – demonstrating proficiency in the clinical setting in combination with sensitivity and caring towards clients.

In addition to being a PTA/OTA, Alyssa is a highly knowledgeable, skillful and caring Can-Fit-Pro Certified Personal Trainer. Alyssa applies her personal training skills to a diverse population adapting movement while keeping it challenging.  Since 2008, she has trained and treated a diverse client base in various settings as gyms, homes and the community. Her clients include those musculoskeletal injuries secondary to overuse, sports, trauma and work related history as well as those with traumatic and non-traumatic neurological injuries.

Alyssa is a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner.  This therapeutic and sport tape has been around for 30 years with its most recent spotting at the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Kinesio Tape provides support and stability, reduces pain and inflammation, relaxes overused muscles, and assists with lymphatic drainage and circulation without restrictions in range of motion.

Alyssa is also a Certified (MAT) Muscle Activation Techniques Jumpstart Practitioner. MAT is a newly developed systematic approach for evaluating and identifying muscular imbalances to reduce compensatory movements. The MAT technique looks at tightness secondary to weakness and provides skills to evaluate whether exercise is enhancing efficient motion or reinforcing compensation.

In addition to her private setting experience Alyssa also worked at Southlake Regional Hospital as a Physiotherapy/ Occupational Therapy Assistant in Neurological and General Rehab Unit. Her experience includes working with individuals with a variety of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's, Stroke, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Gullian-Barre Syndrome. Alyssa's experience further extends to one-on-one and group Hydrotherapy treatment involving the use of water for pain relief and conditioning.

Alyssa is committed to ongoing education and professional development to continue providing her clients with up to date services.  She is looking forward to taking a Bobath course for Health Workers course through the Canadian Bobath Instructors Association in the new year.

Alyssa leads by example by believing in the quote “you will never work a day in your life if you love what you do” offering unique skills and enthusiasm to the Neurocore team.
