Fahreen LadakRegistered Physiotherapist
Her post-graduate training includes introductory acupuncture and dry needling, advanced physical therapy evaluation and management: Hip Complex Part I and Shoulder Complex Part I, Training in the use of FES (Functional electrical Stimulation) arm ergometry and use of the Bioness L300 foot drop stimulator, Level 1 Exam for advanced orthopaedic manual and manipulative physiotherapy, Introductory course on the relationship between postural control and functional movement through the Bobath Concept, Kinesiotaping, Bands, Balls and Balance. Fahreen plans to further her training in acupuncture and pilates in the coming year. In addition to working at Neurocore Physiotherapy & Pilates Centre Inc., Fahreen also works in the inpatient Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Program at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. She works alongside an inter-disciplinary team to provide hands on treatment, prescribe seating and mobility equipment as well safe discharge planning. Fahreen has an exceptional understanding of the challenges faced by persons with neurological impairments and employs a holistic approach to assessment and treatment. Fahreen has a personal interest in issues of social justice and international healthcare development. As an MScPT student, Fahreen played an instrumental role in establishing an inter-disciplinary health clinic (IMAGINE) to service the under-housed and homeless population in downtown Toronto. Fahreen completed a placement in Bangladesh at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed. Fahreen is a member of Nepalability, a not for profit organization that supports healthcare education and development in Nepal. In the fall of 2010, Fahreen volunteered with this organization in Nepal. Fahreen volunteers with the Queens Quay Disabled Sailing association and is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. |
