Man Qin Huangfu

Registered Physiotherapist

MQ HuangfuMQ graduated from the University of Toronto in 2010 after receiving a Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy and an Honour's Bachelor of Life Science degree in 2008. During her practical internships, MQ assessed and treated clients in a variety of settings along the continuum of rehabilitation, including the Intensive Care Unit in Toronto General Hospital, Stroke program at York Central Hospital, The Athletic Clinic at the University of Hong Kong, Pediatric unit of Rough Valley Health System and Outpatient physiotherapy at York Active North Rehab.

After graduation, MQ began her career in a rehabilitation centre, working with a multidisciplinary team to treat clients diagnosed with a wide variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neurological conditions secondary to sports injuries, car accidents, work injuries, and repetitive strain injuries. MQ's diverse postgraduate education and work experience includes manual therapy, acupuncture, and therapeutic exercises to help with pain relief, restore mobility and make functional improvements. MQ is a strong advocate for empowering the clients with knowledge to achieve their own goals. She has a particular interest working with individuals who present with complex orthopaedic and neurological conditions.

MQ also enjoys being involved in the education of prospect physiotherapists by acting as a Clinical Instructor for the students in the University of Toronto, University of Queens, as well University of Western Ontario. She recently received a recognition award from the University of Toronto for her Clinical Instructor role.

MQ's professional development includes:

  • Athletic taping and Kinesio-taping for sports injuries

MQ's next step to further her education will be taking more advance Bobath courses as well as exploring Fascial Stretch Therapy.

In addition to being a passionate physiotherapist, MQ is also an avid volleyball player. She believes that her love for the sport has constantly motivated her to become a better Physiotherapist. Through rehabilitation of her own injuries, MQ is able to see her own work from the client's perspective, which encourages her to critically and objectively evaluate her own treatments. MQ has been volunteering as a team trainer and therapist for various volleyball and football club teams in Toronto for the past few years.

MQ is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.
